For this project, our team gave an existing summer kitchen a completely refreshed look with a professional color change repaint.

The cabinetry itself was still in good condition, so there was no need to tear everything out and start over. We removed all of the cabinet doors and hardware, thoroughly cleaned the surfaces to remove grease and contaminants, sanded the existing finish for proper adhesion, applied primer, and finished everything with a durable new paint color.

We often recommend a color change repaint when cabinets are structurally sound and the homeowner is happy with the existing layout and door style but wants to modernize or refresh the appearance of the space. It allows us to work with what is already there while avoiding much of the cost, waste, and disruption associated with complete cabinet replacement.

Replacement makes more sense when cabinets have significant structural or water damage, deteriorating cabinet boxes, or when the homeowner wants to completely change the layout, storage configuration, or cabinet style.

In this summer kitchen, the existing cabinets provided a great foundation for refinishing. By putting the time into proper cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting, our team was able to transform the appearance of the space while extending the life of the existing cabinetry.

It’s a great example of how the right preparation and a new color can give an existing kitchen an entirely different feel without requiring a complete replacement.
